The Artist: Petra Kalcicova

I’m a contemporary abstract artist focusing on vibrant alcohol ink creations. I was born in Czech republic, in a small town called Asch, the most western town of the country and I was drawn to art from a very young age when I kept “decorating” my parents house walls, doors and more…

In the past 10 years I lived in Amsterdam and Berlin and experiemented with various mediums and techniques. Fluid art will be my passion wherever I live and ink became my north star.

I create with my mind & soul. I focus exclusively on creating original art, that is how Monsi art came to live.

Why fluid art

Every piece is an original. I have a concept and a feeling, however the result is always different. I’m enjoying the process of creation and let the flow guide me. It’s a journey.

Feelings of gratefulness and love but also fear and frustration, they come and go. Art is my therapy session.

It wasn't an easy journey...

The path of an artist is almost always a pretty hard. Struggle, frustration mixed with excitement and bursts of energy. That’s how I would describe mine.

Trying new techniques, failing over and over again until it finally “clicks”. Then it’s about perfecting it and finally finding my style. These ups and down will always be there and that is ok.

Concept, inspiration, personal style & artistic techniques

A lot of time and energy comes into every single painting.

Life offers me new input and ideas for creation every day. It can results into 1 painting or a full collection.

I am open for commissions as long as the requestor let’s me express my style and keep my artistic freedom.

My preferred surfaces are canvas and synthetic paper, which I treat with various fluid art techniques to achieve the desired texture and absorbency. My mixed media approach involves layering different materials creating a multidimensional effect that adds depth and richness to my works.

Inspired by artists such as Marissa Recker (Astuary Art) or Kaivan Askari (Askari Art), in my works I aim for a harmonious blend of colours, textures, and shapes that evoke a sense of depth and movement. My pieces are characterised by a spontaneous and intuitive approach, as I guide the ink flow and then let it blend naturally on the surface.
